The European Science Foundation has opened a call for the position of Head of Science Operation (HoSO). This is a key position for the organisation: the HoSO will supervise the scientific team and science operations, participate to the development of ESF and be part of the Management Group.

A Postdoctoral Scientist Position at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Massachusetts USA, in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology is available immediately (until filled). Supported by a four-year US National Science Foundation grant to study the evolution and function of the unique mitochondrial membrane protein ATAD3 in Arabidopsis thaliana. Collaborations with San Diego State University (evolutionary biology), Dartmouth (studies with Physcomitrium) and University of Georgia (STEM education). Experience with organelle isolation, proteomics and Arabidopsis genetics preferred. Opportunity to build a career research program. The Vierling lab is located in the Life Science Laboratory Building (tinyurl.com/3w3mhbcp), which was completed in 2013 and offers an open lab format that joins labs of other faculty in Biochemistry and Chemistry. The building houses extensive core facilities of the Institute of Applied Life Sciences including a Nikon Center of Excellence in Microscopy, Center for Biophysical Characterization and a Core for Mass Spectrometry. Growth chamber facilities for plant growth are also housed in the building. The lab participates in Plant Biology and Molecular and Cellular Biology Interdepartmental Programs that host seminar speakers, retreats and symposia.
